Why You Should Train with the Volcano Tire Flip and Yoke Machine

The revolutionary 250LB Volcano is a plate-loadable steel tire flip and yoke training implement with three main benefits:

  1. Effectively activate the same muscles used in flipping a tractor tire.
  2. Reduce many of the safety and storage hazards of full-scale tires.
  3. Enable adjustable weight distribution for a truly customized workout.

Volcano Construction and Storage

Made in the USA from 3×3” and 2×3” steel tubing, the complete triangular Volcano unit creates a 69” x 48” footprint, doing the potential work of several strongman tires while occupying a fraction of the space.

All six of the Volcano’s weight posts have 9.75” of loadable length (compatible with any standard Oly plates), and all corners of the unit include a 1” rubberized cover to protect both the steel and your flooring through each flip.

Made in the USA from 2×3” and 3×3” steel tubing, the unit includes (6) loadable weight posts and (3) 1.75” diameter crossbars.

The height of the bars in the lower tire-flip position is similar to the familiar height of a barbell loaded for an Olympic lift, and the height of the upper bar (45”) makes the Volcano equally functional as a yoke training implement.

Versatility

Because the Volcano is plate loadable, athletes can regularly add or remove weight to achieve a desired level of difficulty.

Plates can also be loaded unevenly / asymmetrically across the six weight posts, so that, as an example, the first flip of the unit could be relatively easy, the second flip more difficult, and the third flip the most difficult.

When used as a yoke, the side-to-side loading can be varied, too, to target the stabilizing core muscles on one side of the body.

To work the other side of your core, simply carry the Volcano in the opposite direction. Even team training is possible, as the crossbar length of the Volcano is wide enough to allow two athletes to flip the unit side by side.

Safety and Efficiency

Logistically, the Volcano can replace multiple tractor tires, which will not only save loads of gym space, but eliminate some of the pitfalls of traditional tire flip training.

This includes being able to use a pronated (overhand) grip on the crossbar, rather than a supinated (underhand) tire grip, which can cause stress and strain on the bicep tendon.

The crossbar also allows the movement to begin from a comfortable height off the ground (rather than flat off the pavement), and enables a consistent feel and muscle memory not possible with the ever changing treads and size variances of tires.

Safety is taken into account for the user’s gym flooring, too, as the Volcano’s corners feature 1” think rubberized edges.
